Breakfast in New York
Sunday morning I woke up to a nice little surprise in the form of a trip to New York, for those of you who just found my blog I work as a stewardess on a private jet and my schedule is very unpredictable.
I had been on standby since mid June with no flights and as I am based in Bahrain and it was Ramadan I was starting to get slightly restless, so a flight to New York sounded just perfect.
With 3 days there to enjoy the city, I immediately started making plans for breakfast, lunch and dinner (food plans always come first) some sight-seeing, shopping and of course polo!
I have been to NYC many times before, when I worked for Emirates I worked the JFK flight at least once per month. I have also visited on my own several times before, as two of my cousins have lived in the Big Apple for the past 10 years.
So I had a list of my favorite places, including Penelope for breakfast, 230 on 5th for a late lunch with the best view and the rooftop bar of the Gansevoort Hotel for sunset drinks.
And I was determined to stop by the new Polo Bar by Ralph Lauren and making plans to do a polo lesson at the Meadowbrook Polo Club as well. So with all these plans in mind I was very excited and the 18+ hours inside the aircraft flew by (pun intended).
We arrived in New York City late Sunday evening and after being awake for nearly 24 hours I figured it was best to call it a night and wake up fresh the next day.
Monday morning 5.17 AM I was completely awake and excited for all of my plans ahead, there really is nothing wrong with Monday mornings, I don’t know why everyone is always complaining about them 😉
At around 7 AM I received an email, new crew briefing, our departure had been moved up, we were leaving that afternoon. After the usual jolt of panic I get when I receive an e-mail from work, I thought “Oh well, there is still time for breakfast and a quick stroll around town”. I convinced the rest of the crew to come with me to one of the best breakfast places in town! Penelope.
And although the walk there was 40 minutes and not 20 as I had initially said, it was worth it!
Then it was time to explore and make our way back to our hotel on Times Square with a few stops for pictures on the way.
So after annoying all of my fellow crew with my selfie-stick and obsession with taking pictures, it was time to get some caffeine and get back in my uniform and prepare for take-off!
And that flight was to Paris, but more on that later.
I love NYC and although I have my list of favorites I always enjoy discovering new places, so feel free to leave a comment below with your favorite places and I will try to go there on my next trip (which might have to be soon, I was just reminded of how much I love that city!!)
